HERE'S SOME OF WHAT YOU CAN FIND ON CILENTO REVIEW!
Cilento In - FocusThe town of Agropoli is the gateway to the Cilento region and by some distance its most populous with around 22,000 permanent residents. A popular seaside resort, it lies at the northern extreme of the region facing out on to the Tyrrhenian Sea and just a short distance south of the famous archaeological site of Paestum.
All these things combine to add to the lustre of Agropoli with visitors attracted not only by its beaches but by its many accommodation options which make it an ideal base from which to explore the Cilento National Park, its coast and Paestum. |
The town itself is vibrant with a good mix of age-groups and plenty of choice in terms of dining, shopping and sightseeing. The most famous sight is the Aragonese/Angevin castle which sits on a hill and affords some wonderful views of the town and its attractive marina area. The old town that surrounds the castle is full of charm with narrow, stone walkways interspersed with some enticing restaurants, bars and cafès serving local cuisine and of course fresh fish dishes.
Getting here is quite simple too; Agropoli is something of a transport hub for the region, easily accessed by car but also with public transport options including buses and trains.
